TCC to Open New Center of Excellence

FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 16, 2014)

WHAT:
As part of the grand opening of its new 163,500-square-foot facility at Alliance, Tarrant County College will showcase the expanded training opportunities available for top industries that support the economy of the northern region of Texas. The TCC Northwest Campus Center of Excellence for Aviation, Transportation and Logistics (CEATL) allows TCC to bring the Aviation programs under one roof along with the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program, which includes warehouse and transportation management classes. Aviation programs relocating to CEATL include Avionics Technology, Airframe Maintenance, Advanced Composite Technology and Professional Pilot Training.

TCC officials expect to be joined by area industry leaders, elected officials and dual credit high school students currently studying aviation during the grand opening event that includes tours of CEATL, where five associate degrees and 10 certificates may be earned.

These programs are critical as this region has more than four times the national average of aviation jobs, but a shortage of pilots has been forecast for both the northern region and the state of Texas. TCC’s investment of about $20 million to create CEATL includes the purchase, design and renovation of the building, along with the cost of furnishing and moving programs from Northwest Campus.
