TR's Disability Mentoring Day

Campaign for Disability EmploymentIn partnership with Trinity River Campus, Amerigroup is sponsoring a luncheon seminar for Disability Mentoring Day to discuss employment-related topics focusing on persons with disabilities. The event will take place Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Action A-TRTR 4202 (fourth floor). Seminar topics will include:

  • Social Security Administration – Work Incentives
  • Interviewing Do’s and Don’ts
  • Job Accommodations
  • Myths About Hiring People with Disabilities
  • Types of Resumes and Their Purpose

Anyone interested in employment issues for persons with disabilities is encouraged to participate.

Trinity River’s activities are part of October’s National Disability Employment Awareness, a month-long national campaign hosted by The Office of Disability Employment (ODEP). One of the month’s highlights is Disability Mentoring Day, a collaboration between ODEP and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) held on the third Wednesday of October.  Disability Mentoring Day raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme is “A Strong Workforce is an Inclusive Workforce: What Can YOU Do?”
