McMeans Named Volunteer of the Year

Corporate Services Instructional Associate Robbie McMeans’ love of downtown Fort Worth motivates her to spend hours contributing to the success of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc., events including the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival, Musicarte and the Christmas parade. Her dedication was recognized last month when McMeans was named Volunteer of the Year.

McMeans began volunteering in 1990, after working for DFWI for seven years. During her tenure, a downtown improvement district was implemented resulting in improved security, trees and landscaping, parking and free events. The efforts transformed Fort Worth into a place “that people want to come to for food, fellowship, events and visiting,” she said.

Since 2000 McMeans has worked on the Event Management Team and is the Hospitality Manager for Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival and Musicarte. During the 25th Christmas parade Nov. 27 she will check in floats for the parade.

Additionally, McMeans, who has worked in Corporate Services for nine years, is on the Jazz by the Boulevard Music and Arts Festival management team for the Camp Bowie Cultural District. She checked in and monitored 65 artists and managed the chef’s tent where local chefs cook for the crowd.
