Below the Belt opens at TCC South

FORT WORTH, Texas — A world stifled by corporate culture has dehumanized three men, and none of them is sure he likes it. Richard Dresser explores this oppressive bureaucracy and its effects in his play, Below the Belt, which runs April 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts at Tarrant County College South, 5301 Campus Drive. Fort Worth 76119. Admission is free.

Hanrahan and Dobbitt work in an industrial compound where they check products, and Merkin heads the department. No matter their situation, the system always wins. The harm they experience even impacts their marriages.

Audiences have found the comic interplay among the men — one a bully, one ambitious and one a mass of quivering insecurity — irresistibly funny.

Director Lindy Benton-Muller directed the play at TCC South 12 years ago and decided it was time to do it again. “I think it speaks to today’s work world pretty well,” she said.
