FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarrant County College’s Respiratory Care program has received the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialing Success award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
The honor recognizes programs that achieve at least 90% RRT credentialing success. TCC’s recognition came following the submission of its 2025 Report on Current Status, which documented the consistent preparation of graduates to earn the advanced-practice RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Fewer than 20% of programs earn the distinction annually; this year, 77 out of 472 entry-level programs, or 16.3%, did. TCC is one of only 38 programs nationwide to receive the award in three consecutive years, and one of just 15 programs to receive it for five consecutive years.
The program also received its 10-year accreditation from CoARC in 2025 without any notations requiring changes. The accreditation is valid through 2035.
CoARC is the national accrediting body for respiratory care education programs. Its credentialing benchmarks are widely regarded as a key indicator of program quality and graduate readiness.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty and the hard work our students put in every day to become practice-ready respiratory therapists,” said Sean Madison, president of TCC South and TCC Trinity River. “Achieving this level of credentialing success isn’t accidental — it’s the result of a curriculum built around rigorous clinical preparation and a faculty team fully invested in student outcomes.”
TCC’s Respiratory Care program equips students with the clinical skills and credentials needed to serve patients across hospitals, clinics and specialty care settings.
