FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarrant County College and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) are partnering to provide area automotive technicians a more convenient way to become ASE certified.
The Testing Center at TCC South is now an official Prometric Testing Center for ASE certification. ASE certification involves rigorous testing to verify technical knowledge through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
Students in the Automotive Service Technology, Automotive Collision Repair and Toyota Technician Education (T-Ten) programs will now be able to take their initial Student Certification exam on site. In addition, automotive professionals from Tarrant County can benefit from a local testing site as they progress through the various ASE certifications throughout their careers.
“Prior to us offering ASE testing, our students, faculty and staff, as well as professionals in the industry, would have to travel to Dallas as the closest site,” said TCC South President Daniel Lufkin. “This is a much-needed service in our surrounding communities and greatly appreciated.”
ASE certifications are widely recognized among automotive professionals and the businesses that employ them. Individuals who hold an ASE certification have shown proficiency in a range of tasks. Often employers will hire and base salaries and bonuses on the number of ASE certifications an individual has earned.
