The Advising and Counseling office at TCC Northwest provides services to guide, support, and enable students to be successful. The department offers various services to students, from onboarding them to the institution, planning out their academic and career pathways, to helping them gain work experience in their chosen career field.
As the Director of Student Success and Advising, Ryan Hamzeh focuses on serving as an advocate for staff and students. Ryan states, “I do my best to work to improve the student and staff experience at TCC. My goal is to improve overall procedures and the way we work to best serve our students.”
In addition to providing leadership for the departments of Student Success and Advising, Career Services, Testing, Transfer Center, and Veteran’s Center, he also works closely with other areas that have regular touchpoints with students, such as the registrar, financial aid, and student activities.
In his position at TCC Northwest, Ryan has found that each week looks different. He spends most of his time collaborating with NW leadership and working with his team to examine and implement best practices. His favorite aspect of his position is working with his team. He stated, “So far, my favorite aspects of the position have been the incredible team I get to work with. From leadership to each individual advisor, everyone shows a true passion for students and wants to ensure they are successful.”
Ryan joined TCC in August 2023 and has been heavily involved in the relocation of offices to the newly completed NW01 Building. As a leader, he shared, “I have been thrilled with how our team has handled the move and redevelopment. We planned for the best outcomes, but there are always challenges you don’t foresee, and our group handled them all with ease and grace.”
He looks forward to serving students in an environment that supports and fosters collaboration between staff and students and is pleased to be in a building that houses all of the Northwest Campus Student Service departments.
