TCC Trinity River to Host Presentation on Fentanyl

Leigha Simonton, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, will speak about the current crisis posed by the powerful drug fentanyl in her presentation, “Deadly Threats to Young Americans: The Fentanyl Crisis and Violent Crime.”

The event, free and open to the public, is hosted by the Law and Order Club, a student organization.

Simonton, who will be accompanied by her first assistant and the chief of the Criminal Justice Division, will address the investigative and prosecutorial efforts underway to address fentanyl and other current dangers in North Texas.

A graduate of the Yale University School of Law, Simonton was nominated by President Joseph Biden in November 2022, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate the following month. A native Texan, she is also a graduate of Berkner High School in Richardson and UT Austin.
