TCC program earns national accreditation
– the only college in Texas to receive it.
TCC’s Anesthesiology Technology program is the first and only program in Texas to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
TCC Trinity River President Sean Madison received notice of the accreditation in a November letter from Donald Balasa, president of the CAAHEP. Balasa wrote that this accreditation was “awarded due to the program’s demonstrated compliance” with the organization’s standards. “The commission recognizes your organization’s commitment to continuous quality improvement in health professions education, as demonstrated by your participation in CAAHEP programmatic accreditation,” added Basala.
“With being the first and the only accredited program in the State of Texas, TCC’s teams are showing their dedication to enhance and support the healthcare system in North Texas,” said Mohamad Tlass, assistant dean of Health Sciences. “Anesthesia technicians are an essential part of the operation team than provides quality care to patients. This program can be the foundation for others to follow to enrich the educational opportunities for those who have the passion and the calling to be in the anesthesia field. Our program is a game-changer for anesthesia care in an operating room.”
“The Anesthesiology Technology program is structured to meet the ongoing demand for technicians at a variety of hospitals in “Tarrant County and beyond,” said Brandon Hernandez, Trinity River dean of Health Sciences, “Maintaining the only accredited program in Texas demonstrates a commitment to both academic excellence as well as student success for this program.”
Anesthesia technicians perform a wide variety of duties, including sterilizing, setting up and maintaining equipment; performing and reporting blood gas analyses; calibrating anesthesia machines to appropriate settings for each patient; and assisting the anesthesiologist during surgery.
