TCC Northwest hosted the 10th anniversary of Celebrating Strides on March 4 in the Fire/Rescue building. Celebrating Strides, which was held in March due to inclement weather, is a Districtwide celebration and recognition of Black History.
The event featured hors d’oeuvres by TCC alum Chef Karriem, a performance by Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance, spoken word by artist Mike Guinn, a keynote address by Leah King, President and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County, and performances by TCC Northwest music and dance students.
Dean Sonya Brown and student Benoit Katompua served as stage hosts and emcees for the program. The event was held in multiple areas throughout the Fire/Rescue building and featured interactive art project and live performances. The event was also available to view online in a livestream format for those wishing to participate remotely.
This annual TCC event was planned and implemented by the Celebrating Strides committee comprised of faculty, staff and students from across Tarrant County College.
