TCC Connect’s fully online HR Management Program ranked among nation’s most affordable

Tarrant County College’s online Associate of Applied Science in Human Resources Management Degree is ranked ninth in the ValueColleges.com’s Top 25 list of Most Affordable Online HR Programs in the nation. TCC is one of two Texas colleges included within the top 10 of all colleges rated.

“For the Value Colleges’ ranking of the best values in online human resources associate programs, VC editors focused on trusted, accredited colleges. Our ranking is based on our definition of value, using data from IPEDS and Niche about tuition, student satisfaction, and potential salary,” according to its website.

TCC Connect first launched its online HR program in fall 2019, offering two HR Specialist Certificates, Level I and Level II, and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree option.  Currently, 142 students are enrolled in TCC’s online HR programs, an increase from only 24 students when the program began. Enrollment has increased to 110 from 20 in the AAS, to 23 from four in the Level I certificate and to nine from one in the Level II certificate. The first cohort is expected to graduate with the HR associate degree in spring 2021.

“This recognition reaffirms the decision to offer the program and the overall goals for all our campus offerings,” said TCC Connect HR instructor Kenya Wilson. “It was important for TCC Connect to offer the program to meet an industry need and to reach a unique group of students who may not have been able to earn a credential within the field otherwise.”

Students have many options to complete the program, including fully online through TCC Connect or at one of the other five campuses. Offerings vary from campus to campus. Opportunities under the Human Resources Management umbrella are expected to continue growing, especially in this region, Wilson said. Upon completion, students will be qualified for entry-level human resources management positions such as human resources specialist, human resources coordinator, benefits coordinator and training specialist.

Originally launched in 2013 as an administrative division, TCC Connect received accreditation in October 2015. TCC Connect also provides students the option of accelerating their studies through its Weekend College. The cohort allows completion of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in 18 months or fewer.

TCC Connect students also have access to all the Student Support Services available to students enrolled in traditional face-to-face courses ranging from digital orientation to enrollment services. These services also include online advising, payment, library service, advising, tutoring and proctoring.
