Four new TCC Connect programs available completely online open doors to jobs in high-demand fields

In fall 2019, TCC Connect, responsible for eLearning and Weekend College at Tarrant County College, will offer four new and completely online academic programs as part of the College’s commitment to being student ready. Two of these will be certificate programs in information security and two will be associate degree programs in human resources and marketing, respectively.

Those interested in the cybersecurity field may earn credentials that would qualify them to work as a cybersecurity specialist or in ethical hacking. Both positions are in greater demand as businesses across all industries dedicate resources to protect critical information from cyber threats.

With the Level 1 certification, students will be qualified to work as computer security specialists and information security analysts. With a Level 2 certification, students will be qualified to work in ethical hacking. For all information security positions, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a growth rate of 28 percent for credentialed workers through 2026. The completion cost for the Level 1 program is $1,728 for 27 hours, which may be completed in one academic year. The cost for the Level 2 program is $3,008 for 47 hours and may be completed in two academic years.

Once Level 1 requirements are complete, a student would need only 20 more hours at a cost of $1,280 to earn the Level 2 credential because the certificates are stackable.

For the first time, TCC Connect also makes it possible to earn associate of applied science degrees in Business Administration-Marketing and Human Resources Management completely online.

The Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration-Marketing prepares graduates to work in several areas including advertising, customer service, marketing research, promotion and publicity, sales and wholesaling. Employment opportunities are expected to grow nine percent through 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Tuition for the program will be $3,840 for the 60-hour program, which can be completed in two years.

The Associate of Applied Science in Human Resources Management prepares graduates to work as human resources assistants, human resources specialists, entry-level recruiters and training specialists. By 2022, the demand for qualified human resources professionals is expected to grow by 5.9 percent nationally, 11.1 percent in the state and 12.1 percent regionally. Tuition for the program is $3,840 for the 60-hour program, which can be completed in two years.

Currently, 20,700 students are enrolled in TCC Connect, which offers 18 fully online programs including five associate degrees and 13 certificate programs. TCC Connect provides an eLearning course inventory of more than 140 courses and more than 750 classes.

TCC Connect also is offering 660 classes in two five-week sessions during summer 2019. Students may register for the first five-week session through May 27 and through July 1 for the second session. Summer classes begin June 3.

These services also include online advising, payment, library service, advising, tutoring and proctoring.

Originally launched in 2013 as an administrative division, TCC Connect received accreditation in October 2015 from the Southern Commission of College and School Commission on Colleges Association as Tarrant County College’s sixth campus.
