The TCC South community invites the general public to this one-day event to learn more about the many issues impacting African American community, serving as a bridge between knowledge and access barriers.
What: 2018 18th Annual African American Health Expo

Summary: The 2018 (18thAnnual) African American Health Expo will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Tarrant County College – South Campus. The Expo will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The AAHExpo is a highly anticipated yearly event that brings together various organizations and communities in and around Fort Worth to address the need for education, early detection, prevention, treatment and access to community resources. The theme of this year’s Expo is “Health Disparities: the Silent Enemy”. The mission of the AAHExpo is to address these access and knowledge barriers in an effort to decrease health disparities and the associated burden of illness and death experienced by the African American community.
As a resource for “Total Health & Wellness” the AAHExpo educates on the many issues that negatively impact African American/Black communities, including but not limited to heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV/AIDS and infant mortality. In addition, the AAHExpo serves as a bridge providing a meeting place to foster awareness as well as increase access to important information to encourage and support positive lifestyle decisions, i.e. healthy cooking/eating and fitness exercises. This year AAHExpo will feature community based service providers, exhibitors, demonstrations will provide strategies for healthy lifestyle change and maintenance. All services and activities provided will be focused on the total health and wellness of community members of all ages. There are activities for the whole family:
- Children’s Activities – Included in this section are games, bicycle giveaways, free immunizations with a focus on fighting childhood obesity by promoting physical activity and healthy eating.
- Free Screenings and Education – Over 90 agencies will provide free health screenings and education. The screenings include HIV/STD testing, blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, prostate, mammograms, and more…
- Each AAHExpo participants who attends the expo will receive a community resource guide listing the contact information for all of the vendors at the expo.
