Last spring, the first junior class of the Arlington Collegiate High School on the TCC Southeast Campus joined that age-old tradition every junior dreads. They took the PSAT. PSAT originally stood for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test but has become so ubiquitous that it is now just called the PSAT.
And the results are in! Three of students in the junior class, Elias Perez, Esteban Hurtado and Tommy Nguyen, scored in the top 50,000 students in the nation from approximately 1.6 million juniors who took the challenging PSAT exam. They earned the distinction of Commended Scholars in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. This sets them apart in a very special way as they transfer to four-year universities, after they receive their high school diploma and associate degree in May. We are eager to see where their academic path takes them, but we are happy they started as TCC Trailblazers!
