FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 6, 2015) –Tarrant County College and The University of Texas-Arlington officials Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at TCC Southeast Campus to facilitate the transfer of TCC Cornerstone students to The UT-Arlington Honors College.
“We are here today to establish a formal agreement that provides honor students a clear pathway as they transfer from Tarrant County College’s Cornerstone Program to the Honors College at The University of Texas-Arlington,” said Joy Gates Black, TCC vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Success. “This formal partnership will ease their transition as they continue to pursue their educational goals.”
The two higher education institutions signed the agreement as part of TCC’s ongoing commitment to student access and success. It updates a previous agreement signed under TCC’s former name of Tarrant County Junior College and UT-Arlington’s Honors Program. The new agreement reflects the recent revitalization of the Cornerstone Program and the establishment of The UT-Arlington’s Honors College in 1999.
“The opportunity for our Cornerstone students to transfer course work and possibly earn scholarships to The UT-Arlington’s Honors College is the hallmark of this cooperative venture,” said TCC Southeast Campus President Bill Coppola. “It demonstrates the outstanding relationship that has existed between our two institutions over the years.”
