Tarrant County College continues to be one of the top colleges and universities in Texas offering online education.
TCC recently ranked fourth out of 188 colleges and universities in Texas that offer online classes, based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The data was used in a study by SR Education Group, a publisher of online education portals and guides.
The SR Education Group study was a springboard for another study by Aslanian Market Research and The Learning House, which analyzed characteristics of 1,500 online learners. The survey indicated learners have a tendency to favor online schools that are located close to them, even though their studies are online. Statistics show that 80 percent of respondents live within 100 miles of a physical presence to their online program.
“Online classes increase completion rates,” said Carlos Morales, Ph.D, president of TCC Connect. “TCC eLearning courses continue to gain popularity because they are interactive, providing multiple ways of learning while allowing independence. We cater to students with multiple commitments or limitations, allowing them to complete their degrees on schedule.”
TCC began offering courses online in 1989. Currently, nine associate degrees and seven workforce certificate programs are offered online. With an online course inventory of 246 courses, more than 900 online classes are offered each semester.
