Tarrant County College Southeast Campus President Notifies TCC Community of Former Student’s TB Treatment

FORT WORTH, Texas (Mar. 22, 2012)

Tarrant County College Southeast Campus President William Coppola today notified the TCC community that a former student was being treated for active tuberculosis (TB).

TCC has been working with Tarrant County Public Health since being notified Monday to identify students who were enrolled in classes with the former student in fall 2011 or spring 2012, until his withdrawal. Public Health is sending letters to about 200 students to notify them they may have been in contact with the diagnosed student. In addition, the TCC community was notified by posting Coppola’s letter on the District website.

Public Health officials will be on Southeast Campus Tuesday March 27 to answer questions from students who were enrolled with the former student. Health officials will conduct free TB tests at Southeast Campus Tuesday, April 3, and return to read the tests two days later on Thursday, April 5.

Information about TB control is available from Tarrant County Public Health on their website at www.tarrantcounty.com/eHealth or by calling 817-321-4900.
