FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 1, 2011)
Strategies that enabled Northeast Tarrant County to survive the economic recession by “Turning Lemons into Lemonade” will be the emphasis of the 15th Annual Heart of North Texas Business Conference Friday, Nov. 4, at Tarrant County College Northeast Campus. The campus is located at 828 W. Harwood in Hurst.
WFAA Sports Director Dale Hansen will discuss “Sports and the Local Economy” as the noon luncheon speaker. The half-day conference also includes a discussion of education by a panel of three North Texas area independent school district superintendents. Speaking at 9:10 a.m. will be Superintendents Gene Buinger of Hurst-Euless-Bedford; Karen G. Rue of Northwest; and James R. Veitenheimer of Keller.
Other speakers include Mike Berry, president of Hillwood Properties, discussing “Economic Development in the Alliance Area” at 10:10 a.m. and Captains Robert A. Bennett, Paul F. Paine and Tracy D. Smyers of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base on “The Economic Impact of the Military” at 11:10 a.m.
Registration and check-in for the event, sponsored by Northeast Continuing Education, will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Center, Center Corner, NSTU Room 1615A, followed by opening remarks at 9 a.m. The cost is $50.
