Congratulations to our Northeast Campus Speech and Debate Club for winning national recognition recently at the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament. Sean Gilliland won gold recognition in Parliamentary Debate competition and our team of Sean, Elizabeth Price and Courtney Stewart won silver in Debate Sweepstakes and bronze in Overall Sweepstakes. In addition, Elizabeth won bronze in Dramatic Interpretation and Prose Interpretation, and Courtney won bronze in Dramatic Interpretation and Prose Interpretation.
Congratulations also to the coaches who supported the students – Lisa Benedetti, Jacob Cabe, Matthew Kennedy, Paulinda Krug, and Stephen Thomas.
More than 500 students from 59 colleges competed in the national tournament held last week in Greenwich, Connecticut, so our team’s wins are very significant. Way to go Sean, Elizabeth and Courtney!
