Rick Garcia has been named TCC’s first associate vice chancellor for Student Success with responsibilities for coordinating leadership for campus-based student services functions at all five TCC campuses.
Garcia will work with campus presidents and the vice presidents for student development services. Additionally, he will monitor admissions requirements, student transfer credit policies, the degree audit program, international student admissions and recruiting activities.
Previously, Garcia worked for Dallas County Community College where he served as executive dean of College Readiness and Mathematics for Eastfield College. He also was dean of Outreach and Student Development at Eastfield College and associate dean of Student Development/Vice Principal of the Richland Collegiate High School for Science & Engineering.
He earned a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce, a Master of Music in Performance from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan., and a Bachelor in Education from East Texas State University. He also received Certification in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Garcia’s professional memberships include the National Association for Developmental Education, American Association of Community Colleges, National Community College Hispanic Council and the Dallas-Fort Worth Professional Musicians Union.
