Faculty Receive Top Honors

TCC faculty members continue to do great work not only as teachers, but as community members and industry professionals. Congrats to the following individuals for their recent honors and accomplishments and thanks for all you do!

Elise Price, assistant professor of mathematics at Southeast Campus, has been selected as one of the state’s top college professors by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation, which has named her a 2010 Piper Professor. With this honor, she is the recipient of one of the 15 awards of $5,000 each made annually by the foundation for superior teaching at the college level. Price’s husband, David Price, who also teaches mathematics at Southeast, was awarded the honor in 2007.

James Grant, department chair for Aviation Maintenance Technology at Northwest Campus, has been elected to the board of the Aviation Technology Education Council. The organization is a national group for FAA certified Part 147 Aviation Maintenance programs and though TCC has been a member for years, James is the first TCC representative to serve on the board.

Triesha Light, coordinator for Women in New Roles and associate professor of psychology at South Campus for 41 years, was recognized April 13 for her service to the Fort Worth Commission for Women.  She has served six terms on the commission from 2003 to 2009, during which she has worked with the infant mortality project and helped secure resources for victims of domestic violence.
