The deadline to enter the District Speech Competition is Tuesday, April 27. TCC students currently enrolled in SPCH 1311 or 1315 are eligible to compete. To register, students must sign up with their speech instructor.
Participants will present the same speech in two preliminary rounds to a panel of two to three judges. Preliminary rounds, beginning at 1:30 p.m., will be narrowed to a final round of six students.
The District Speech Competition is Friday, April 30, at Northwest Campus in the Student Center, WSTU, 1305. The final round is at 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Trophies will be awarded to the top six speakers. All competitors will receive certificates of participation.
Northeast Campus hosted the first Districtwide competition last fall. Winners were: Debbie Pena, first place, NE; Michelle Griffin, second place, NE; Emily Reed, third place, NE; Megan Meador, fourth place; Trinity River Campus; David Hair, fifth place, NW; and Willis Reed, sixth place, Southeast Campus
