Congratulations to TCC students who received a total of more than $100,000 in scholarships to four-year universities thanks to this year’s Jim Bolen Math Competition.
Samantha Crowell, a Northwest Campus student, received a full two-year scholarship to TCU based on her exam scores, overall academic achievements and other factors. Hung Doan, also a student at NW Campus who placed second in the TCC District Competition, was awarded a TCU Dean’s Scholarship valued at $39,000.
Students Matthew McClure, NW Campus; Amy Carlin, South; and Asal Nabili, Northeast, each received $10,000 scholarships to Baylor.
Winners of $1,500 scholarships to UTA are SE Campus student Ly Nguyen, who placed first in the TCC District Competition; SE student Nghia Tran; SE student Trang Le, and NE student Sara Menix.
These students, plus others who finished in the top 10 at the District level or first in the campus exams, were honored Friday, April 16, during a ceremony at Trinity River Campus.
Keynote speaker Gordon England, president of E6 Partners LLC and former United States deputy secretary of defense, congratulated the students, emphasizing the importance of mathematics excellence.
