Pennie Boyett Earns Scholarship

Congratulations to TCC’s Southeast English instructor Pennie Boyett for receiving the $1,500 Scott Scribes Scholarship for Older Adults. Awarded by the Writers’ League of Texas, the scholarship targets mature adults making a career in the writing field.

Boyett, a 20-year veteran of the newspaper business, started at TCC as an adjunct professor in 2007, becoming a full-time instructor in 2007. Her experience in daily journalism includes writing and editing positions with the Alliance Regional Newspapers, The Dallas Morning News and The Arlington Morning News.

A student at the University of North Texas, Boyett is pursuing a graduate certificate in narrative journalism. Her goal is to teach journalism at TCC. She has a Master of Arts in English from The University of Texas-Arlington and a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas-Austin.
