“It is better to give than to receive.” This well-known proverb beckons us to give to others, and we usually find ways to give of our money, time or other material items. We at TCC can add to the list giving the gift of life.
We usually hear of opportunities to give during times of crisis or natural disasters, but the need for blood, and blood products such as platelets and red blood cells, is a constant reality. TCC Health Services offices across the District offer the means to donate blood each semester for those who are able.
Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry Drives scheduled for the fall semester:
- Oct. 7, South Campus
- Oct. 14, Northeast Campus
- Oct. 28, Northwest and Southeast campuses
Check the District calendar for more information on each campus’s event. Trinity River Campus’ blood drive earlier this semester was a success and more events are planned for the spring semester.
Our personal experiences drive us to give to specific non-profit organizations. My personal experiences have been the driving force in my desire to encourage others to become part of the blood donor and bone marrow registry efforts. In addition to donating blood at one of our campus blood drives, I would like to encourage everyone who is able to consider becoming a part of a bone marrow donor registry.
One pint of blood could be the difference in saving a life; yours could be the life-saving marrow that is needed to help someone with cancer.
