Giving Campaign Helps Students and Community

TCC employees have one more week to help deserving TCC students further their education and help charitable organizations throughout Tarrant County and some surrounding counties.

It’s all possible through the 2009 TCC Employee Annual Giving/United Way Campaign. Employees have until next Friday, Oct. 9, to make tax-deductible donations through payroll deductions, credit card payment or as a one-time gift. Donations may be made in honor of or as a memorial to someone.

For the fall 2009 semester, 160 scholarships were awarded, totaling $108,705, a 19 percent increase over the number of scholarships provided in fall 2008.

When employees donate to the Tarrant County College Foundation, 100 percent of their donation goes to fund scholarships. Five percent of UW donations are used to cover administrative costs.

On Sept.10, Liz Sisk trained campus managers and CELT member coordinators to coordinate the campaign. The 19 TCC employees helping with the campaign by location are MOC: Karen Burkhart, Mary Cady, Frances Guajardo, Rita Parson, Maria Romero, Susan Taylor, Noel Witherspoon and Gloria Zamarripa; Northeast: Leigh-Anne Regenold and Denise Schmidt; Northwest: John Martin and Becky Staats South: Abbie Daniels, Lacette Green, Nicole Minor and Maria Valdez; Southeast: Jeanette Jacobs and Des Robinson; and Trinity: Robert Munoz.
