FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarrant County College South has earned accreditation from the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) for its Construction Management Technology (AAS) program, a distinction rarely granted at the associate degree level.
Effective March 1, 2027, through Feb. 28, 2034, the accreditation places TCC’s 60-credit AAS pathway on equal footing with bachelor’s-level four-year construction management programs. It meets the same ACCE standards for curriculum, faculty qualifications and student outcomes.
“This accreditation validates what our faculty and industry partners have built,” said Sean Madison, president of TCC South and TCC Trinity River. “For our students, it means a degree that carries national weight from day one. For our region’s employers, it means a steady pipeline of construction professionals trained to the same standard as any four-year graduate.”
At roughly $4,440 in tuition for in-county students in 2026-2027, the program offers a fast, affordable entry point into a high-demand field.
“Full ACCE accreditation at the associate-degree level sets TCC South apart from traditional trade-training models,” noted Regina Cannon, dean of business and industry at TCC South. “Students now graduate with a credential that is nationally validated and directly aligned with what employers across the construction industry expect.”
ACCE-accredited programs are held to standards maintained by construction industry professionals, ensuring that graduates enter the workforce with skills employers helped define. For a two-year program to meet those same standards is uncommon nationally.
“This accreditation reflects years of work aligning our curriculum with what the construction industry actually needs,” said James Howard, chair of building systems technology and business at TCC South. “Our faculty built this program in direct conversation with contractors and developers, so students graduate meeting a standard our regional employers helped set.”
TCC South Construction Management Technology students study project management, materials methods, estimating, scheduling and safety, which prepares them for roles with regional contractors, developers and construction firms.
