Tarrant County College is looking for students to pitch their next great business idea during the Texas Cup Pitch Competition. The contest, presented by Global Silicon Valley (GSV), a growth-focused investment platform, aims to find business ideas that combine “profit” and “purpose” to “create impact that is scalable and sustainable.”
“GSV’s goal is to identify the stars of tomorrow who have the heart of a non-profit and the ambition of a for profit. We created the Texas Cup as a way to give all young people equal opportunity to make their ideas a reality, which will ultimately impact the world for good,” said Michael Moe, founder and CEO of GSV.
Teams of up to five students will have four minutes to pitch their business idea to a panel of TCC faculty and local business leaders.
The deadline to register to present is April 12, 2023. Seats are limited. Students can register online to present.
Round 1 presentations will be held April 15, 2023, in the Trinity River Campus East auditorium. Students will receive more event details after they register.
Finalists from TCC will advance to Round 2 to create a video pitch and compete against other Texas colleges and universities. Round 3 finalists will compete live at the GSV Mission Summit in Dallas on May 22-24, 2023. The GSV Mission Summit will have 500 potential investors in attendance to listen to pitches.
“Tarrant County College is delighted to align with GSV and the other colleges and universities in the DFW area for this exciting pitch competition,” said Kenya Ayers-Palmore, Ed.D., president of TCC Northeast. “We encourage faculty to share competition information with their students. We also invite all TCC students to consider joining the competition in teams using the link provided.”
