Tarrant County College (TCC) students in Arlington have a free option to travel to attend classes at TCC Southeast.
Starting last month, TCC students within the Via Transportation service area can use a special promotion code to plan rides using the new Via Quick Ride Program. The rides for the two-year pilot project will be funded by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) through the city of Arlington.
“By partnering with the NCTCOG and the city of Arlington, we are providing another option for our students to access transportation, one of the barriers many of them face as they strive to reach their educational goals,” said TCC Chancellor Eugene Giovannini.
Students must be enrolled in three credit hours or 48 continuing education contact hours and enrolled in at least one course at TCC Southeast to participate in the technology-based, ride-share flexible program that provides personalized transportation.
“The program serves a public purpose by enabling access to higher education to promote workforce development and job readiness in the city of Arlington,” said Alicia Winkelblech in the Office of Strategic Initiatives for the city of Arlington. “The City is excited about this partnership and the opportunity to provide TCC students with more transportation options.”
Eligible students may apply online for the program at asktcc@tccd.edu. More information about the application process is available by calling 817-515-8223.
Once registered, use your promotion code and book your trip using the Via smartphone application or by calling 817-784-7382. More information about Via can be found at www.arlingtontx.gov/via.”
