Saginaw Area Chamber recognizes TCC as Non-Profit of the Year

The Saginaw Area Chamber of Commerce has named Tarrant County College Northwest as its Non-Profit Organization of the Year, honoring the campus’ service to the northwest Tarrant County community.

The award recognizes a non-profit organization serving the Saginaw area that has demonstrated its dedication to the community with its service and programs. Consideration is based on factors including impact on the community as well as collaboration with other community organizations.

The Chamber chose TCC Northwest for its commitment to being the community’s first choice for partnership and to serving businesses, individuals and families. For example, for three years, TCC Northwest has partnered with Community Link food bank to host the Back to School Bash. The event provides supplies and services to thousands of area children each year. In 2017, the campus launched the Community Food Market, a partnership with Community Link and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The Community Food Market is open to the public monthly and offers a variety of fresh foods, including meat and produce, at no cost.

“TCC Northwest is an important partner for organizations and businesses across northwest Tarrant County, and we value their contributions to our community,” said Cassandra Self, president of the Saginaw Area Chamber board. “The Chamber is proud to recognize the campus for its generous service.”

The Saginaw Area Chamber presented TCC Northwest President Zarina Blankenbaker and the campus leadership team the Non-Profit Organization of the Year award at the Chamber’s annual awards banquet, held in February at The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway.

“We are honored and grateful for the Chamber’s recognition of the work of our faculty, staff and students to help provide for those in need and make northwest Tarrant County a better place,” said Blankenbaker. “We truly are the community’s college, and TCC Northwest is committed to continuing to serve our neighbors.”

The campus received certificates of recognition from U.S. Rep. Kay Granger and State Sen. Jane Nelson to mark the occasion.

TCC Northwest is located at 4801 Marine Creek Pkwy. in northwest Fort Worth. Program highlights include aviation, criminal justice, fire protection technology, horticulture and dance. Find more information at tccd.edu/locations/northwest-campus.
