Tarrant County College Partners with DFW Airport to Expand Career Development Opportunities

Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport (DFW), one of the world’s largest and busiest airports, has expanded its partnership with Tarrant County College to provide customized educational and training opportunities to more employees at the Airport. The program will be offered at no cost to the employees, with full details being announced to staff in early 2019.

TCC Corporate Solutions & Economic Development will develop and deliver training in communication, business writing, safety and maintenance, contract management, PHR (Professional in Human Resources) and project management, underscoring the College’s commitment to serving the North Texas business community. All classes will take place at DFW Airport’s corporate headquarters.

“This partnership highlights Tarrant County College’s focus on establishing partnerships that enable the region’s top organizations to develop their human capital and enhance staff development, recruitment and retention initiatives,” said Tarrant County College Chancellor Eugene Giovannini. “TCC is a well-positioned workforce development resource to help meet the performance and organizational needs of area companies.”

“Tarrant County College has been a fantastic educational partner over the years, providing training for our firefighters and police officers,” said Linda Valdez Thompson, DFW’s executive vice president of Administration and Diversity, and member of the TCC Foundation Board of Directors. “This expanded agreement will open new opportunities for our employees across the airport to enhance their professional skills and business acumen. We are proud to invest in the growth and development of our employees and build a stronger DFW Airport workforce.”

More than 75 police officers and approximately 50 firefighters have trained at the TCC’s Fire Service Training Center at the Northwest campus. Additionally, more than 300 police officers and approximately 250 firefighters have completed in-service courses.

DFW Airport currently employs more than 1,900 full-time employees. More than 60,000 people work on airport property with airlines, contractors and business partners.
