FORT WORTH, Texas (May 15, 2017) – Tarrant County College Northeast students excelled in this year’s Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders competitions—interactive information technology exams and networking simulations open to students throughout the United States and Canada.
In the final round of the CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) contest, Jonathan McMillan earned the highest score of the 287 U.S. and Canadian finalists.
Wayne Morgan placed second out of 202 North American finalists in the IT Essentials portion of the competition. Morgan also placed 15th in the CCENT competition.
Andrew Twist placed 31st in CCENT, while Michael Dutton came in at 67th place. In the CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate) contest, James Richardson placed sixth out of 116 round-two qualifiers. He will now move on to the CCNA North American finals.
“These competitions give students an opportunity to demonstrate their IT skill set and gain valuable industry-recognized experience,” said Ken Moak, department chair for information technology and computer science at TCC Northeast. “We are extremely proud of our students. Their performance is a direct reflection of their dedication to the field and the outstanding preparation they receive from our faculty and staff.”
TCC’s Computer Science & Information Technology program offers certificates of completion and associate degrees in areas including network support, programming, security, web/internet services, convergence technologies (only at TCC Northeast) and game programming (only at TCC South). The departments also offer special topics courses to upgrade the skills of information technology professionals.
