On the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, approximately 80 people participated in the Tarrant County College Memorial 5K Run/Walk, hosted by the Criminal Justice Training Center at the Northwest Campus. It was the third year for the event that honors fallen first responders.
“The run/walk is important because we can continue to remember those we lost and never forget the events of that day,” says Scott Donaldson, assistant coordinator at the Criminal Justice Training Center. “It promotes institutional effectiveness by allowing collaboration with and service to the community while engaging the employees.”
Participants included cadets from area law enforcement, firefighting and other government agencies, TCC staff members and Northwest faculty. Staff and students from the Dance and Physical Education departments served as volunteers for the event.
The run/walk began on campus at the five-story Fire Tower with participants running up the tower and down to the Marine Creek Trail, returning to the tower.
