Get ready! The new 2012 Compass, the literary arts magazine for Southeast Campus, is set to be unveiled at a reception Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Southeast Campus Library.
The reception, which is open to the public, will include readings and performances of the accepted submissions, as well as refreshments. While there, you can even purchase your own copy of the 2012 Compass for $10 apiece, as well as copies of the 2011 and 2010 Compass for $5 apiece.
The Compass, an award-winning magazine now in its third year, includes poetry, prose, and art submitted by Southeast students, staff, and faculty.
This year’s magazine had 124 submissions, of which 104 were chosen by a panel of 71 students. Among this issue’s features are the two Southeast Campus winners of last spring’s District Art show, photography highlighting work done by the Culinary Arts and Architectural Technology departments, and a DVD of last spring’s Poetry Slam plus bonus materials.
As if that weren’t impressive enough, this year’s magazine also features a new logo designed by Principles of Marketing class students and will be used on all promotional materials.
