Youth Summit To Help Students Succeed

Male student at tableThere’s still time to register for the free “Cutting Edge Youth Summit” to be held Saturday, April 14, at TCC’s Southeast Campus. Nearly 200 students and parents already have pre-registered for the Summit, up from the about 50 who attended the first Summit last fall.

“The Summit is about transferring knowledge. The information that the youth will gain is priceless,” said Candice Bledsoe, Cutting Edge Youth Summit founder and TCC instructor. “It is ideal for students interested in attending college, but who do not understand the college application process or how to find scholarships.

“It is my desire that every has student has access to the tools that they need to become successful,” she added.

Breakout session topics for students include “Self-Esteem in Today’s World,” “College Application Process 101,” “Financial Aid: The 411 on Scholarships and Grants,” “The Importance of Being a Scholar,” “Creative Writing and Spoken Word,” and “How to Become a Better Writer.” Breakout sessions for community leaders and parents include “Grant Connections: Finding Funding for Your Organization” and “Communicating with Teens Today.”
