Tomasa Herrera, a 79-year-old great-grandmother, is featured in today’s Star-Telegram as one of two senior students at TCC who recently graduated with General Education Development diplomas.
Inspired by her great-grandson to go to school after she couldn’t help him with his homework, Tomasa also overcame physical ailments, including partial paralysis and surgery, to achieve her goal last month. She is one of 21 graduates over 60 who received their GED from TCC in the last five years.
