Proffitt Honored for Volunteer Work

Northeast Campus Business Instructor and Department Chair Sally Proffitt has been named the 2010 Stayton Salute to Seniors Award recipient for her volunteer work tutoring students at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County. Nominated by Union Gospel Volunteer Coordinator Lanni Boyd, Proffitt is the third recipient of the honor presented by the The Stayton at Museum Way Senior Living Community.

“I am honored that The Stayton is recognizing UGM for the work they do with our homeless and that the UGM staff nominated me to be recognized,” said Proffitt, who has been with TCC for 25 years.

She is no stranger to volunteering.  “I have always been a proponent of ‘giving back’ to the community,” she said.  “My newer efforts came in 2008 as a response to those people and creatures who were suffering from the economic woes.”

Proffitt shares her spirit of volunteering with Business Capstone students, who she involves in service learning projects. “As a business instructor it is rewarding to know that business organizations are actively promoting the dedicated work of local service organizations.”

Please join us in saluting Sally for a job well done!
