Nearly 15 million visitors have viewed the show that features more than 250 real human 3-dimensional specimens consisting of whole-bodies and individual organs. Exhibit promoters invite visitors to “take the opportunity to peer inside yourself, to better understand how your elaborate and fascinating body works, and how you can become a more informed participant in your own health care.”
The exhibit is said to help visitors relate to everyday activities by showing bodies displayed in athletic poses. Additionally, it shows damage caused to organs by abuse. For example, a healthy lung is displayed next to a black lung ravaged by smoking.
