Tarrant County Chapter of the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education recently hosted a workshop for mentors. Held on South Campus, the launched TABPHE’s mentor program that will help with student retention.
SO Counselor Annie Dobbins led the training for the Village Mentoring Program. The Village matches mentors with African-American students who want to experience a smoother transition to higher education. Mentors meet monthly with their students to help them adjust to college life.
To date, 19 faculty and staff are mentoring 45 students in the newly launched program.
