Veterans Day Celebration

Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Special guest speakers at the Veterans Day luncheon will include World War II veteran Edward C. Larson, who flew “The Hump” during the war, and Brian Fleming, veteran from the war in Afghanistan and resiliency coach for the U.S. military. The program will include renditions of the “Star Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” a recitation of the pledge by the Northeast Veterans Association president Bandon Van Wyk, and remarks by Campus President Larry Darlage, Vet Success representative William Cobb, and TCC Veteran Services representative Denise Hill.

Veterans will be honored with a program remembering the attack on Pearl Harbor through the firsthand account of a survivor.

Southeast Campus
Veterans Day Celebration

Friday, 11 a.m.-12:50 p.m.
Southeast Campus veterans will be honored by participating in a procession during which they will cross the stage and state their name, branch, and time served. The program also includes Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck offering a Veterans Day proclamation to Southeast President Bill Coppola and the reading of the poem “Old Glory” by Professor Chris Baack. District VetSuccess Counselor Sarah Ary will distribute information.  Refreshments will be served.

Monday, Noon to 2 p.m.
The event will start at noon with a meet and greet for the veterans and students.  A moment of silence will take place at 1 p.m., followed by the reading of the fallen; the ceremony will close with the playing of TAPS. Tables will be set up with information for veterans, and free food will be provided for those who attend.  Students and attendees may bring canned food, clothing, and hygiene products to donate for the Stand Down event, an effort on behalf of the Department of Veteran Affairs to provide services to homeless shelters.

Monday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In cooperation with VFW Post 8235, the Trinity River Campus celebration includes joining the nation in a moment of silence at 10 a.m. The program also includes a memorial wall, the Trimble Tech High School JROTC Color Guard, and national roll call. The Fort Worth Veteran Center will also participate. The day’s activities will conclude with a party on the patio outside of the rotunda entrance and visits with representatives from veteran support organizations.
