FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarrant County College has made two adjustments in the tax and property valuation information presented to its Board of Trustees in August. The adjustments do not change the 2026 property tax rate of 12 cents per $100 valuation that the board approved Sept. 10.

“Tarrant County taxpayers trust us with their investment, and we take that responsibility seriously,” board President Jeannie Deakyne said. “We have reviewed the numbers, adjusted them and are sharing that information. Our commitment is to always present information that is clear, accurate and easy to compare year to year.”
Tax rate calculation
An additional review of the 2026 tax rate calculation identified a discrepancy involving the Tax Increment Financing value in the Tarrant Appraisal District’s supporting data.
After rechecking applicable provisions of the Texas Tax Code and detailed information from the appraisal district, TCC determined that the calculation should use the value after participation adjustments rather than the value originally reported.
TCC resubmitted the corrected calculations to the Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector for review and certification.
Certified net taxable value
The College also found a separate error in the historical valuation information. The comparison used two different measures of taxable value, overstating the year-over-year decline. Using the same measure for both years, the certified net taxable value declined by $3.839 billion, not the $39.725 billion previously reported.
TCC leaders had anticipated a decline in taxable values this year because of increased exemptions for taxpayers, frozen appraisals and lower assessed valuations.
