WGU recognizes TCC as a Transfer Partner of Excellence

FORT WORTH, Texas — Western Governors University in Salt Lake City recently celebrated Tarrant County College as one of its strongest community college partners. Alliances such as this enable TCC graduates to complete their formal education efficiently.

Since TCC formed a partnership with WGU in 2019, 1,800 TCC students have transferred to the university to further their education.

“For six decades TCC has delivered high-quality, exceptional education for thousands of students in North Texas, preparing them for bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees at WGU,” said Barbara LeCesne, the Utah school’s partner success manager. “Students reach their full potential through their higher education journey and beyond.”

“We recognized TCC with the WGU Transfer Partner of Excellence award for its commitment to academic excellence and facilitation of student transfers,” added WGU Regional Vice President, South Linda Battles. “It’s great working with an organization that shares our mission of creating pathways to opportunity.”

Jason Abreu, TCC Trinity River vice president for student affairs, credits the recognition to TCC’s “steadfast commitment to expanding transfer opportunities for our students.” He said the award highlights the College’s dedication to fostering seamless academic pathways and ensuring student success beyond TCC.

“This accomplishment,” he said, “demonstrates our institution’s commitment to academic excellence and student advancement.”
