FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarrant County College has received notice of its 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
“Nothing says academic excellence like the SACSCOC stamp of approval,” said Chancellor Elva LeBlanc. “This reaffirmation confirms our stance to transform lives for generations to come. It is an incredible capstone to our 2024 academic cycle.”
The SACSCOC review examines everything from academic programs to faculty qualifications to student support services. SACSCOC first accredited TCC in 1969.
Following a year of preparations, TCC’s onsite visit by the SACSCOC team — the final component of a lengthy, multistage process — took place last fall. The team was impressed with the College’s cohesive leadership, financial stability, community service and commitment to student success. It applauded the effort that went into TCC’s new Quality Enhancement Plan, focused on faculty mentoring.
“With 14 accreditation principles and more than 55 subsections plus the QEP to address, reaffirmation is certainly no small undertaking,” said TCC Vice Chancellor and Provost Shelley Pearson. “Countless faculty and staff drafted responses, helped arrange the site visit and assisted with follow-up requests for our visiting SACSCOC committee. They have our profound appreciation.”
Dr. LeBlanc said she is “especially grateful for the tireless work of our six campus presidents and the unrelenting support” of the Board of Trustees. “Every higher education institution should have such invested leadership.”
Several of TCC’s educational partners and dual credit students also participated in interviews and off-site tours at area high schools. The SACSCOC team praised their hospitality and presentations.
“Together with our high school and university partners we’re creating a dynamic, powerful educational support system with far more capacity than would be possible for TCC alone,” Pearson said. “Without question, they play a huge role in our success. We are so thankful for them.”
Chancellor LeBlanc: “SACSCOC reaffirmation speaks to the heart of our origins six decades ago to meet the great need for education opportunity. Like our founders, like SACSCOC, we believe that Tarrant County College Trailblazers deserve nothing but the very best.”
