Programs available across Tarrant County for kids in grades 1 to 12
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 5, 2016) – With summer just around the corner, Tarrant County College is opening registration for its youth camps—designed to give students in grades 1 to 12 enriching and challenging experiences. Camps planned for this summer include TCC’s popular College for Kids as well as Forensics Camp, Cooking Camp, Coding Camp and much more.
“These camps are a great way to keep your child active and engaged while school is out,” said Joy Gates Black, vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Success. “They also have long-term benefits. We’re building the next generation of college students.”
For most camps, registration begins Tuesday, April 5. Fees vary; contact each campus’s Community and Industry Education Services office for more information and to apply. The full camp list includes:
Northeast Campus, 828 W. Harwood Rd., Hurst (NADM Building, Room 1202A; 817-515-6502)
- Art Camp, June 6 to23. Open to students entering grades 7 through 12; create different kinds of artwork for an exhibit hosted on final day of camp. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Dance Camp, June 6 to 23. Open to students entering grades 7 through 12; explore various dance forms and perform at a recital on final day of camp. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- M.A.R.T. (Science and Mathematics Academy of Research and Technology) Camp, June 6 to 16. Open to students entering grades 9 through 12; explore physical and life sciences, math and advanced technologies such as 3D printing. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Jazz Camp, June 13 to 14. Open to students entering grades 9 through 12; learn Texas Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Ensemble audition music. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- BASE (Business and Service Education) Camp, June 20 to 30, at Haltom City Northeast Center. Open to students entering grades 6 through 9; learn business and community service skills. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Basketball Camp, June 27 to 30. Open to students entering grades 3 through 8; develop basic basketball skills or hone advanced techniques. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Soccer Camp, June 27 to 30. Open to students entering grades 3 through 8; improve beginner or intermediate soccer skills and techniques. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- College for Kids, July 11 to 28. Open to students entering grades 3 through 8; choose from classes on a variety of topics, including tennis, calligraphy, plants and animals, astronomy and more. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Reed All About It: Clarinet and Saxophone Camp, August 1 to 2. Open to students entering grades 7 through 12; learn Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band audition music. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Choir Camp, August 1 to 4. Open to students entering grades 9 through 12; learn Texas Music Educators Association All-State Choir audition music. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.

- Coding Camp, June 13 to 23. Open to students entering grades 5 through 8; learn computer languages and programming skills. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- College for Kids, June 13 to 30. Open to students entering grades 1 through 6; choose from classes on a variety of topics, including career exploration, math, creative writing, cartooning and more. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Junior Achievement Finance Park, June 13 to 30. Open to students entering grades 7 and 8; gain skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Firefighter Camp, June 27 to 30. Open to students entering grade 9; learn firefighter basics including physical training, first aid, teamwork, responsibility and leadership. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Alliance Camp, July 11 to 14, at Center for Excellence in Aviation, Transportation and Logistics at Alliance Airport. Open to students entering grades 5 through 7; get an introduction to career fields of transportation, logistics and technology. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Musical Theater Camp, July 11 to 14. Open to students entering grades 9 through 12; develop acting techniques and get experience in all aspects of performing arts productions. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Pickle Ball Camp, July 11 to 14. Open to students entering grades 3 through 8; learn this modernized racquet game that incorporates skills from tennis, badminton and racquetball. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Forensics Camp, July 18 to 21. Open to students entering grades 6 through 8; explore how science is used in crime investigations. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.
- Fencing Camp, August 1 to 4. Open to students entering grades 3 through 8; learn history and basic principles of sport fencing. Registration begins Tuesday, April 5.

- TexPREP (Texas Pre-Freshman Engineering Program), June 13 to July 28. Open to students entering grades 7 through 12; earn high school credit, prepare for college and sharpen skills in science, technology, engineering and math. Apply April 11-29.
- Youth Basketball Clinic, June 20 to July 28. Open to students entering grades 6 through 9; learn basketball rules and skills. Registration begins Wednesday, June 1.
