FORT WORTH, Texas (March 3, 2015) – Tarrant County College’s District Communications, PR & Marketing team won top honors in the recent 30th Annual Educational Advertising Awards. The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising competition in the country. More than 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries in 27 categories.
TCC’s District CPRM team won two silver awards for its outdoor billboard series featuring TCC students actively engaged in various programs and disciplines and for design for a single newspaper, student-focused advertisement, “This is what college looks like.” TCC’s newly redesigned magazine, REACH, also won a bronze in the publication category.
Sara Rogers, district manager of marketing, designed the winning ads as well as TCC’s magazine, REACH, under the direction of Suzanne Cottraux, CPRM executive director. Other CPRM staff involved in these efforts include DeeDra Parrish, Rita L.B. Parson, Kendra Prince, Brandon Tucker and Connie Wiebe.
In addition, Tucker, along with Web Communications colleagues Mark Crouch and Stephen Fornal, earned two merit awards for TCC’s Student Success and Annual Report websites.
“The nation now knows the quality of creativity and talent that we at TCC benefit from each day,” said TCC Chancellor Erma Johnson. “They repeatedly put their heads together to design and disseminate the story of TCC in messages that are both eye-catching and compelling.”
Judges for the Educational Advertising Awards consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report. Entries were judged based on creativity, innovation of content, message impact, technology application and marketing execution.
Prior to its expansion into the District Communications, PR & Marketing department, TCC’s District Public Relations and Marketing team last year won the Chancellor’s Employee Excellence Awards for Forward Thinking.
