FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 12, 2014) – Tarrant County College is requesting recommendations for potential uses of the former TXU Power Plant, located on North Main Street across the Trinity River from TCC’s Trinity River Campus, 300 Trinity Campus Circle in downtown Fort Worth. TCC acquired the land when it purchased land for the Trinity River Campus East Center for Health Care Professionals, 245 E. Belknap Street.
TCC recently issued a Request for Interest and Qualifications to determine potential uses for the building and land. The College will consider all responses including selling the property and a joint venture or public-private partnerships for development. Other options that would be considered are a land swap or any other potential development opportunity that an organization or individual would like to propose.
An acceptable offer would maximize the value and utility of the asset to benefit TCC as well as the community. Additionally, an optimal adaptive reuse of this historic building would maintain its characteristics and presence, maximize revenue for TCC and align with the timeline of any expected development of the surrounding area.
The deadline for submission is Friday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. The request is available on line at:
