Veterans now know how to get the help they need to access education and other benefits thanks to a recent Military Careers and Veterans Resource Fair held at TCC’s Northwest campus. In expressing their appreciation of the event, one student said, “Being a vet, all info is useful.” Another commented, “I’m glad I didn’t miss it.”
Hosted by Career Services, the event showcased military careers and resources available to veterans. Representatives from the various branches of the Armed Services were available to meet with students. The Fort Worth Vet Center, Tarrant County Veterans Services, Texas Army National Guard and Texas Veterans Commission also participated.
Participants who met with the students praised the event because of their ability to connect with a number of veterans who are TCC students. Jillayne Jordan, veterans employment representative with the Texas Veterans Commission, said all the veterans and family members with whom she met were very thankful for the information they received.
Impressed by the location and the set-up of the event, Jordan says she would be happy to attend another event like this in the future. “The value of events like these is that we are able to reach veterans and family members who may not know about our services,” Jordan said. “By informing them, they can pass that information on to others.”
